Hello Shehaqua Artist!
The Shehaqua Family is sponsoring a Song Book Art Contest for the 2010 song book. You have an opportunity to become part of the 16 year old tradition of Summer Camp by creating the front and back artwork of our camp song book.
These books will be used not only for summer camp but also at the September Hoedown, Winter God’s Day retreat, Spring Break Gathering and at countless Sunday services throughout the country! We might use the winning design for next year as well so please do NOT date the artwork. The winner will receive a cash award for their efforts and a letter of recognition from the Shehaqua Family Committee.
Deadline for submissions will be midnight June 14, 2010
Details of submission:
The songbook cover measures 11 x 8.5" when opened, and 5.5 x 8.5" when it’s folded. Your artwork should fill both the front and back of the songbook cover. Please study the cover template PDF to see which area will be covered by the songbook title and the ribbon at the bottom. Please take into consideration that the cover will be folded, and therefore only half of your artwork will be visible most of the time.
Please leave 0.25" of space on the top, left, and right.
Please create your artwork in grayscale or black and white. The background should be white, as the art will be printed on a colored paperstock. Also, if you choose to do your art in grayscale (with pencil, for example), please make sure that there is a lot of contrast in your drawing.
It should be submitted in digital format—as a high quality jpg, tiff or EPS file—at a minimum of 300 dots per inch (dpi). You can create your art on the computer, or you can create it on paper and then scan it in at the proper resolution. (If you don’t have a scanner, you can send us your artwork on paper, and we will do the scanning.)
Claude Aubert is organizing the song book art contest and will be forming an art committee for the judging of the submissions.
