1. Welcome
The purpose of Camp - JOY! Joy is the purpose of life.
Schedule:
- Schedules are posted on main buildings and in registration folders.
- Full participation
- Quiet time in units 10 pm – go to units quietly; whisper when you approach the unit. Anyone is welcome to ask noisy ones to be quiet.
- Lights out and close Dining Hall at 11:30 pm pending on current schedule. Listen to the evening monitor and help clean up.
- No children under 10 in dining hall without their parents after 10 pm.
- Midnight curfew: Half hour after dining hall closes (midnight, pending on current schedule). Be in cabin or lodge.
Kitchen:
- No raiding the kitchen.
- If you have personal food that needs to be stored in the fridge, please ask the cook where in the fridge to store it.
- No socializing in kitchen.
- Introduce cook and have him/her come to the front.
Infirmary:
- Explain location
- Introduce the nurse and have him/her come to the front; write cell phone # on whiteboard.
- Parents can help their children with bandages in the infirmary
Safety
- The waterfall outside camp is off-limits without an adult.
- No fireworks, firecrackers, stink bombs, air/pellet guns
- No playing with knives, sticks
- No pranks (especially during the last night)
Mention points on the Code of Conduct
- Consequences for those who offend the conduct including the night curfew
2. Practical Issues
Mattresses:
- More are on the porch of the lodge in your unit. If not enough, talk to the general affairs director.
- Introduce general affairs director and have him come to the front.
Cabins:
- No changing cabins or lodge without asking registrar. The cabin may be assigned to visitors or late people. We need to be aware where everyone is located. Empty units should stay empty and clean.
Cubbies:
- Explain location. Above and below your name.
- Adopted children: Use cubbies of adopting family.
- Young adults: Use cubbies on the bottom that have no names.
Swimming:
- Children age 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- Anyone accompanying children 10 and under has to stay inside the fence of the pool area and keep an eye on the children.
- If you wear a bikini or skin tight men’s swimming trunks, please wear a t-shirt or shorts over it.
- Swimming during free time only and only with our lifeguard present. Listen to the lifeguards.
- Introduce lifeguards and have them come to the front.
Cars:
- Park and walk. Unless you have a medical situation, don’t drive your car at night to and from the units. It wakes up others.
- 5 mph speed limit. Watch for kids; don’t stir up the dust for walking people. Rangers can stop you, if you go too fast.
Bears:
- No food in the cabins.
- Food must be locked in cars with windows rolled all the way up.
Evenings:
- Come to evening activities with a flashlight.
- Park rule: The park is closed after dark. - Except for driving to or from Shehaqua for arrival or departure or for a shopping trip leaving the Shehaqua area which starts at the gate on the gravel road after dark is against the park rule.
Lost & Found:
- Inside camp office building on table, any time of day

- Cleaning & using mugs (explain system)
Visitors – you can bring them, but:
- Inform them of the camp rules.
- Make sure they talk to the registrar when they arrive.
