Have you ever had a great experience at camp and wished it was just a little bit longer? "Please Mom, just one more day..."
This year at Week 2 of Family Camp, we are offering an additional day for those who wish to expand their Shehaqua experience and have the opportunity to delve further into the realm of God’s heart. The extra day will allow for both Family Fun Night and the legendary Dodgeball Tournament to be held, plus a brand new evening program! The education on the extra day will be focused on experiential learning activities, and participants will have a chance to take the classroom into the out-of-doors.
The rest of the schedule will remain mostly the same as in previous years, but the additional programs will focus on helping each person and family challenge their limitations, and communicate with each other on a deeper level. As the director for Week 2, I warmly invite you and your family to camp, and I pray that whichever week you attend, you will have a wonderful experience.

The Shehaqua Vision Quest is a two week workshop created by 2nd Gen to help fellow leaders challenge themselves to grow internally and understand the Heart of God through internal guidance, service, and outdoor adventure. Through an intensive "road trip" style workshop stretching across the Northeast from New York to Maine, the team will live and work with various communities to strengthen mind and body unity.
The program will kickoff at the Lovin Life Ministries on Sunday July 8 and conclude on Friday July 20. The Vision Quest consists of three major components. The first component is a Unification Thought Workshop taught by Gerry Servito. It will be held at True Parent’s historic home Morning Garden in Gloucester, MA, where the team will also assist in community service work on the property. The second component is a Native American Service Project in Maine. The team will live amongst the Penobscot Indian Nation community to share cultural experiences and help restore property to make it inhabitable for the people. The last component is an extreme outdoor adventure. The team will camp out in Baxter State Park and climb Mount Katahdin, the tallest mountain in Maine. To conclude, the team will share and reflect on Richmond Island, a remote island off the coast of Maine, before heading back to Family Camp Shehaqua.
As director of the program, I want to express just how powerful I believe this program will be for our Shehaqua rising leaders. In 2007, I embarked on a similar journey along with fellow 2nd Gen to help Native Americans and experience God in nature. The memories and friendships made on the trip were beautiful expressions of God’s Love and have given me an incredible respect and understanding for our movement. I have no doubt that my staff of Tim Forringer, Kyra Moyer, Oliver Noll, and Chunky Wright will provide such a powerful experience and give our youth tools for success.
With the little time left before our team departs, I am asking for any and all members of our community to offer any kind of contribution to the program. At this time, we are working to finance the program through fundraisers, and it is no easy task for a road-trip style program over the course of two weeks. Any money and/or camping and cooking material donations are welcome. Checks should be made out to "Pocono Family Ministries" and marked with "Vision Quest" and sent to 21 Aberdeen Terrace, Middletown NJ, 07748-1501 (donations cannot be made online for this program). Also, we are in need of additional vehicles for the commute and would like to rent available vans.
Thank you for your time and for supporting our Shehaqua youth!
