Subject: | Shehaqua: Early Bird Ends Dec. 8; Learn all about the Winter Retreat! |
Date: | Dec 2, 2013 - 2 am |
The last day to register and pay for the Winter Retreat and take advantage of the early bird discount is Sunday, December 8. Register now. (Please remember, you can help us save money if you pay by check instead of credit card.)
This year’s Winter Retreat will include activities and education tracks for all different age groups. The adult education track will be facilitated by Gregg Noll; please read more about this track below. The retreat will include a bonfire/prayer to welcome the year 2014, followed by a Midnight Dance Party. January 1 begins with God’s New Year Day Celebration followed by a family potluck, entertainment, and a special gift from the Give One-Take One Offering Table. New this year: We are suggesting accommodation alternatives in a nearly motel for those who prefer to stay in their own rooms. Read our last newsletter for more details.
Ring in the new year with your friends, family, and some joyful dancing for participants of all ages.Earlier this year the Shehaqua Community expressed their love for group dancing in an unscheduled dance party at the Spring Gathering (click here to watch a video of this), and people at Family Camp Weekend 1.5 had a lot of fun with River Dance. The square dancing at the Harvest Festival was a big hit again this year, too. That’s why this year we're throwing a Midnight Dance Party at Innabah, following the bonfire and midnight prayer to welcome the new year. It will take place in the Gymnasium, where the sound will not bother anyone sleeping in the main building.
We'll crank out some fun top 40, your favorite group dances (can you say Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle or Cotton Eyed Joe hoe down?), and maybe even a Soul Train or Conga line (any parents here remember those?). Be prepared for a few surprises throughout the dance! Party is from 12:15–2:00 a.m. We hope to see you there!
We will be exploring the core principles of spiritual and physical health that can enhance wherever you are on your journey in life. Some of the topics that we'll be covering both in presentations and small group discussions:
The Spring Gathering Circle is looking for new members. The purpose of this circle is to support the director of the Spring Gathering with resources and ideas. If you are interested to join this circle, please contact Nathaniel Ching at [email address redacted]. The Outreach Circle is interested in people with a passion for spreading the word about the Shehaqua programs through marketing, social media, and videos. Among other help, we are looking for a person who could create a promotional video with Japanese narration for our Japanese community. Please contact Claude Aubert at [email address redacted] for more details.
