Winter Retreat at Camp Manatawny: Registration Is Open
Duration: Tuesday, December. 29 (starts after lunch) –Friday, January 1 (lunch included)
As the leaves fall to the ground and the trees prepare for the upcoming winter, we too look ahead to the new season, the holidays and the start of a new year. This year's Winter Retreat will be held at Camp Manatawny, a beautiful site located in Douglassville, PA, one hour NW of Philadelphia. Join family and friends as we usher in the New Year, receive inspiration, meet up with old friends, join in exciting activities, and enjoy delicious catered meals (no need for food preparation volunteers this year). The program starts after lunch on December 29 and culminates in a New Year's celebration on January 1. To sign up, visit us online at shehaquafamily.org. Register now to take advantage of the early bird discount. Prices go up after November 29. Registrations after December 21 cannot be accepted, and all payments have to be made by December 21, too.
Camp Manatawny offers 8 cabins with 4 beds each that will be reserved for the first 8 families that register and fill up the cabin.
Hope to see you there.

Shehaqua Summit Report
By Laurel Nakai
Every year, Shehaqua volunteers gather together for a weekend to reflect on the previous year and to plan for the future. The Shehaqua Summit is a place for working hard to make our programs better and to connect with other volunteers who share a love for the Shehaqua community. This year, members of Shehaqua Circles and the Shehaqua Council met at a beautiful house near the Delaware shore. Our circle members are dedicated volunteers who work year round to help make camp possible, and the Shehaqua Council are elected representatives from the community who make important policy decisions. It was a unique chance to talk about important issues face to face. Whether it was reviewing previous programs and discussing what went well and what could be improved, or coming up with new exciting ideas, the spirit was filled with the positive energy you would expect from any Shehaqua program.
We talked about practical ideas to make our programs better suited to the families that attend, worked through some tough conversations, and formulated ways we could be more effective as a team of volunteers for the year ahead. Perhaps the most exciting parts of the weekend were times when we were able to dream big about the possibilities for the future. Possible new initiatives discussed included collaborations with other groups such as BCSF and the BFA, marriage enrichment programs, art workshops, and reunions.
