Shehaqua Council Elects New Council Facilitator
Mike Stewart with his family
The Shehaqua Council held its regular, bi-monthly Zoom video conference on September 3. Claude Aubert’s term as council facilitator was ending, as was Sunkwon Bush’s term as council administrator. The Council elected Mike Stewart as the new council facilitator. Claude offered to support Mike by continuing to do some of the administrative work he had been doing as council facilitator—such as putting together an agenda, and sending out Council meeting invitations and reminders. Claude suggested that the task for taking the minutes of the meeting be separated from the other administrative work and assigned to a council scribe. As a result, Claude was elected to be the new council administrator, and Sunkwon was elected to be the new council scribe.
All Shehaqua Council members are elected for a two-year term, and every year half of the council seats are up for election. Sitting council members can run for reelection and compete with any new candidates. We are hoping to have many new candidates run for next year’s election. Please contact Claude Aubert at [email address redacted] if you are interested in running. Your input will make a difference! More details about the election will be announced in a future newsletter.
