Subject: | Join us this year for Il-Shim at Family Camp! |
Date: | Jun 23, 2011 - 1 pm |
ATTENTION all families interested in participating in an Il-Shim Ceremony this year at Family Camp!
If your son or daughter is 12 years old or older, then this may be the right opportunity for them to join with other friends & families in becoming "of one heart" with our True Parents. The Il-Shim ceremony at Family Camp is a community celebration as our young people begin to inherit our faith tradition as their own.
If your son or daughter would like to join in the ceremony, some preparation time will be needed before they come to Camp. Download and use the study materials as a guide for preparation prior to Family Camp, and then participate in the Commitment Ceremony at the end of Week 1 or Week 2.

To quote from the Il-Shim Study Guide:
"True Parents conducted the first IL Shim Ceremony to recognize and support the responsibility of the True Children to inherit True Parents' tradition and foundation."
Il-Shim is an important time for our children to think about why we promote the values of abstinence and not dating, and gives them a chance to own this decision. There is a large difference between "I can't date because I'm not allowed to..." and "I don't date because I choose not to."
Special Note: This year we are inviting anyone who has participated in the Il-Shim ceremony in prior years to join the new pledges as they commit the four points of the pledge. This can serve as a way of showing their support of their younger brothers and sisters, stand as a role model and can be a way to recommit themselves as well.
At Family Camp, we encourage each family to set their own conditions, along with their son or daughter. You can download a copy of the Il-Shim Guide with the appropriate study materials at the following link: http://live4joy.org/camp/Ilshim_study_guide.pdf
